Adaptive skills training
-
Our adaptive skills training helps individuals of all ages develop essential life skills that promote independence, confidence, and meaningful participation in daily activities. We focus on practical abilities such as communication and self-expression, personal care and hygiene, time management and organization, safety awareness, community navigation, and functional academic skills. Our approach is highly individualized, breaking down complex tasks into manageable, achievable steps while honoring each person’s unique learning style and pace. We use positive reinforcement and celebrate every milestone, building on existing strengths to develop new capabilities. Skills are taught in natural, real-world contexts where they’ll actually be used—whether that’s at home, in the community, at school, or in the workplace.
-
For children, this might include learning to dress independently, following daily routines, or communicating their needs effectively. For adults, adaptive skills training often focuses on executive functioning, workplace competencies, household management, financial literacy, and navigating healthcare systems. We work closely with families to ensure skills generalize across all environments and continue to develop over time.
Social Skills Groups
- At Potential On The Rise, we offer a comprehensive 14-week social skills training program for children and young adults aged 3-25 from all backgrounds and abilities. Our inclusive program welcomes children and young adults with various needs, including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), Intellectual Disability (ID), ADHD, learning disabilities, as well as typically developing children who may benefit from enhancing their social skills.
Potty training support
- We understand the challenges of potty training and offer support to help your loved one achieve this milestone. Our team develops a customized plan based on your child’s needs and works closely with you to ensure consistency and success.
School consultation & in-school support
- Our team collaborates with your loved one’s school to promote generalization of skills and consistency across environments. We provide in-school, after-school, or daycare sessions to ensure a seamless approach to support.
Caregiver training as part of the applicable service
